Ulrich Seidl: A Global Leader in Industrial Automation and Passionate Amateur Radio Operator
Ulrich Seidl is a highly accomplished professional with over 30 years of international experience leading Siemens’ Industrial Business Units and Divisions across countries including the USA, China, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, the UK, and Saudi Arabia. Starting his career in the early 1980s, Ulrich was instrumental in pioneering the introduction of automation technology to the People's Republic of China, collaborating with universities and institutes to lay the groundwork for the country’s technological development.
During his time in China from 1989 to 1994, Ulrich established key training and service centers as well as a broad Partner Network, significantly enhancing the distribution of automation systems. His leadership extended across global markets, including managing Siemens' Process Automation Business Unit in the USA and overseeing the Automation & Drives Division in South Korea. In Switzerland, he led Siemens Fire Safety Business Units across Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, and in Saudi Arabia, he directed the Building Technologies Division while cultivating strategic partnerships with Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), one of the world’s largest chemical companies.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ulrich is a passionate amateur radio operator, holding the call signs DG9RAB and KF4WHP. He has been active since the early 1980s, with a particular interest in satellite communication and digital modes such as FT4 and FT8. He also enjoys Morse code (CW) communication. Residing in Kirchenthumbach, Bavaria, Ulrich embraces a range of hobbies, including golfing, gardening, playing piano, and website development through HTML programming. He remains engaged in consultancy work as a Senior Expert, providing valuable insights from his decades of experience.
